The De-clutter

Having been inspired by my friend Brishkay who has managed to clear out her email box down to 100, I decided to finally follow suit and take advantage of the concept: new year, new kick, and toss out a good number of emails, which have been collecting cyber dust since 2005. The starting was slow (attributed of course to recent emails that need to remain) but it's true, once you get going, you're going. Right now, I am proud to have deleted almost 50% of my emails. I still have about 2800 in the box, but with more time, will continue to whittle it down. The feeling of less emails though did bring a feeling of a weight being lifted. It's silly because emails don't weigh anything right? But nevertheless, one thing leads into another, and now that the virtual world is being de-cluttered, the real world is following suit. No more thinking oh I might need this later. If I haven't used it in the past several years, it's going to be donated or in the garbage. As I learned at work, space is valuable real estate, and there's only so much of it.
Give it a shot and let go of some old stuff, make room for the new.

  1. Hey Rita,
You're so right about the whole de-cluttering business! I also de-cluttered my email inbox a while ago and it's amazing what rubbish I had kept. While emails don't take up space in the traditional sense, they do take your time and that is one of your most valuable things you have. When I was travelling through Oz I only had one suitcase which was fantastic - I felt so free and independent, because having too many things ties you down. I'm sure you can relate to this feeling as well through your experiences in Europe! By the way, your blog is really stunning. I love the background photo - is it one of yours? Keep it up!!!

  2. Oh time =) Definitely one of the most valuatble things we have. I need to learn from you on the one suitcase. I usually do, but when dealing with the different weathers and work clothes for moving, sometimes stuff gets ahold of us. Would definitely stick to my one small carry on suitcase whenever box.
Thanks for the comment and compliment =) Sadly, this background photo isn't one of mine, one of the templates
    Will keep writing away =)

  3. Surely de-cluttering is a bit time consuming but fulfilling once everything is finally cleared up. I've been doing it almost non-stop since the holiday season. You should see the "collections" of my mom in particular the cosmetic related stuff even found one dates back like 1978 @__@ anyways had to discard it already. hope all is well over there climate here is slightly cool but it's a nice change from being always hot all the time.
