A Small Piece of Scotland - IRN BRU

My first encounter with the Scottish drink, IRN BRU, came the 2nd night I was in Edinburgh.  Eager to try new things on my travels, dinner seemed an interesting option: Irn Bru and Cullen Skink (a fish soup). From then on, Irn Bru was a regular and handy drink nearby whilst I went around Scotland.

Irn Bru is bright orange in colour, you'll see it where I've documented my meals below =) For some it takes a little getting used to, but for yours truly, I took to it instantly.  It tastes a little like cream soda, but not quite as sweet.  Said to be the number one soda in Scotland (outselling Coke and Diet Coke - COMBINED I've been told), this is excellent at any time of day.  From helping hangovers in the morning, or a beverage of choice any time of the day. I suggest you give this a try.  For those counting calories, the can version is 20 calories less than coke =)  This drink does contain quite a bit of caffeine though, but I'm not complaining.

So why this post now? Well, the plan is to put up a series of travel posts of my last big trip (Scotland, Ireland, and London) and share what I wasn't able to before, due to my previous lack of blogging.  I also, to my joy and happiness, finally got my hands on some Irn Bru in Vancouver!!! Yep, sip, a piece of Scotland once again.

It's available at the Celtic Treasure Chest on Dunbar St in Vancouver - just north of 41st Ave.  Thank you Christy for that lead - I will be revisiting. It should also be available in their White Rock location as well as another store on Steveston.  It is a bit pricier than your regular can of pop, but nevertheless, try it. I hope you like it.
