Scotland Tour: Day 3 of 5 - The Isle of Skye

Today our adventures take us to the beautiful Isle of Skye.  Haggis' 3 day tour includes the Isle of Skye.  Idyllic and visually stunning as Scotland has already so far proved to be.  Sparse of people, we were definitely much closer to an unspoiled natural setting. We make a quick stop at the Eileen Donan Castle for pictures and then literally walked onto Skye.
The eventual rain shower didn't dampen our spirits as we posed for a group picture and soaked in the stories about the Old Man of Storr and other Scottish legends.  Lunch for most of us was picking up goodies in the town of Portree where existed the cheapest (but good) bakery in all of Europe so we were told.  The prices were way better than decent and we loaded up.

As we hopped back on the bus after a brief lunch in the rain, an interesting experience for those of us who had opted out of eating in a restaurant, we travelled to the Kilt Rock where the rock cliffs literally look folded.

The story behind this natural structure has to do with giants. The location of Kilt Rock is also beautiful for naturally occurring wind chimes.  The windier it is the louder the music. Said to be the music of the faeries.

A quick stop at Dun Haeg Broch, and then we made our way to the Sligachan River where it is rumored that if you dip your face into the river, you will become beautiful, thanks to a legend and myth of the young woman who regained her beauty after going into the river.  A beautiful story about two warring families about to make peace due to a wedding when the young lady fell en route to the wedding and scarred her face. Her husband to be then rejected her. But all's well that ends well - I forget most of the details of the story now, but I'm sure it's on the internet somewhere.

The Isle of Skye is a beautiful drive with sights including the Old Man of Storr. The main town is Portree that is not only quaint but has what we were told as the cheapest bakery we'll ever find and a number of us loaded up on baked goods for lunch and as snacks for the rest of the day, nowhere else have we seen almost every item under 1 pound.
