VIFF Previews #1

First day of media screenings today, not too shabby and a good warm up for getting those eyeballs to stay open for the next month to take in international films at this year's Vancouver International Film Festival. Whoo, VIFF! While we don't have a lot of the big films at TIFF, the selection showcases more great quality films from around the world that we may never see.

Innocence - Czech Republic
A doctor family drama where one member is accused of touching his underage patients inappropriately. What follows is an investigation that leads to interesting twists about the family members themselves.
3/5 plays Sunday October 2 at 3pm and Tuesday October 4 at 9pm

Sleeping Sickness - France/Germany/Netherlands
A doctor is "stranded" in Cameroon where his work project has dragged on too long and still getting funding from WHO. Flash forward a few years later and the doctor is still looking for a way out. An interesting film about people who are out of their cultural element and have adapted. It is a little slow though and leaves more questions than answers.
2.5/5 plays Friday September 30th at 3pm, Sunday October 2nd at 530pm and Tuesday October 4 at 620pm

7 Sins Forgiven - India
Hell hath no fury as a woman scorned. A tale of a woman whose abusive husbands (there are 6+1) drive her to extinguishing their lives before it's their time. Each marriage is unique though and there are no repeats. A humourous and fun ride.
4/5 plays Thursday October 6th at 1245pm and Sunday October 9th at 915pm
