From local filmmaker Aaron Houston comes Sunflower Hour, a mockumentary loaded with fun and some cheekiness. The producers of Sunflower Hour, a puppet show, are looking for the next puppeteer to join their show and we are launched into the lives of the 4 finalists in a behind the scenes view of everything going on. A very different side than what we see on other talent shows =) Great story with fantastic characters played well by the actors.
4/5 plays Thursday October 13th at 645pm and Friday October 14th at 420pm. A great round out to VIFF.
The Jewel - France,Italy
Inspired by true events, this is a fictionalized story about the downfall of a company Leda, where the uppermost levels of management head straight for a corporate scandal after fraudulent accounting and an insurmountable debt. A solid offering that starts near the beginning of the end after a brief glimpse into the present with good performances. For those not quite into documentaries, a good look an example that other documentaries have been showing.
