VIFF in review - My Top 10

16 days. 81 films (including 14 from media screenings). This was a personal high for number of films seen, as I usually finish around 60. After an initial 2 days of lacklustre choices, things finally turned better and I caught a great number of films, and was changing my top 10 for once, as I watched more films.

What defines a top 10? Is it based on technical aspects or more subjective in nature? It depends who you talk to, and sometimes it's a combination of both.
For me, it's a combination, and without further delay, here's my top 10 for this year's VIFF.

10) Pure (Sweden)
9) No One Killed Jessica (India)
8) In Darkness (Canada/Poland)
7) Starbuck (Canada)
6) Donovan's Echo (Canada)
5) Cairo 678 (Egypt)
4) Top Floor Left Wing (France)
3) Amador (Spain)
2) The Sandman (Switzerland)
1) Mitsuko Delivers (Japan)

So if you ever see any of these titles around, either a film festival or in theatres, dvd or on tv, please do check them out.
