Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked

What is not to like about a movie with characters from your childhood and a catchy present day soundtrack? While the film didn't pique an interest at first, the trailer and songs we know just reeled us in to catch this bundle of fun.

The Chipmunks and the Chippettes are off on a cruise having loads of fun before a parasailing incident blows them off course onto a deserted island that they must escape not only to survive but to make it to the International Music Awards where they are to perform. The plot thickens slightly with a loopy treasure hunter and the forces of nature, but you know it will turn out alright in the end. Part of the fun is identifying all the popculture references and of course dancing in your seat with Chipmunk renditions of LMFAO's Party in the House, Destiny Child's Survivor and more! For kids and adults who can still appreciate fun and laughter. Give in to your youth and just take it in. Did I mention a different side to brainy responsible Simon? Watch a 180 where Simone becomes Simone and sweeps Jeanette off her feet.

I know it doesn't have the greatest ratings but as this is all subjective, I just call it as I see it. And if you can't find the kid in you or you're not that kid, oh well. Anyhows, the trailer is pretty true to the film, so I'll let you decide.  Not one for the critics...some find it cheesy and subpar. While it may not be something you'll want to fork out the $ for, keep an eye out for it on TV.

On another note, the concert scene was shot at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts at UBC. There is no mistaking those wooden seats with purple padding, wooden paneling on stage, a lowered canopy, stage doors and the seating arrangement =)
