Sounds of Glasgow

After a disappointing loss (and no O Canada), I finally manage to get to the blog that I had hoped to post 3 days ago, about a band I had the opportunity to listen to in Glasgow.

For those of you who haven't been to Scotland, that country oozes Scottish pride and Scottish love. In Edinburgh, there are pipers around the city most hours of the day, and their music add so much to the welcoming atmosphere of my favorite Scottish city (and UK city) thus far. With lots of uniquely Scottish souvenirs including bagpipes, blue and white flags, Scotch, and the usual array of magnets, postcards, t-shirts, keychains, scarves, the list goes on - it was much joy that I decided that if I could only buy one Scottish souvenir for myself, it would be a product uniquely Scottish, made in Scotland.

On my day trip in Glasgow, on my wanders in on Buchanan Street (tucked behind George's Square), the strains of these bagpipes and drums filtered down, piquing the interests and tourists alike. Spirited and loud (other musicians actually move away or wait til the performance is over), the sounds of the Scottish band "Clanadonia" was a special treat, and worth a cd purchase.

Have a listen to this track:

Here's another off the same cd Keeping It Tribal:

So if you're ever in Glasgow, wander by Buchanan St, watch them live in person, buy a cd - or drop in a donation. Great cheery music to pick you up when you're feeling down or in need of a burst of energy =)
