Mid-life crisis some say, so if Starbucks started selling beans in 1971, does it mean that they will be gone by 39 years? I don't know quite know what to say about this change in logo, because quite frankly I don't know how many people actually notice it;s a mermaid in the centre (looks like the previous was a mermaid holding up more of her fins) I for one, actually just keep in eye out for the words "Starbucks Coffee" in the green ring whether travelling in London or even Hong Kong. As a brand, Starbucks is good at what they currently sell - primarily coffee. While I understand they'd like to further expand their line of products, I can't help but click a dislike button on the new logo.
I guess time will tell, but I'm curious what else they'd like to sell.
On another humourous note, when travelling in Paris in the summer of 2009, it took several days before I finally spotted my first Starbucks in France - Versailles to be exact. Like a frappuccino starved craver, I headed inside only to take a quick 180 back outside. You probably can guess why. A frappaccino here $4. A frappuccino there (same size) 4 Euro. Go figure. Needless to say, since I'm in France, that frap waited til I got home =)
