Bridesmaids "Laughing Up (and Down) the Aisle"

Kristen Wiig stars in this comedy about a woman Annie who is her best friend's maid of honor. As most weddings go, craziness often plays a role, this wedding is no exception. With disasters brewing from Annie's personal life to her jealousy over her best friend (Lillian's) new "best friend" Helen. Her business having collapsed before, Annie's on a budget constraint, fairly unable to keep up with the mounting costs, as well as needing to out match Helen in every way. Her love life is a mess and everything goes downhill to the point she gets thrown out of the wedding before the happy ending.

This is a well written story with a lot of heart. With great performances from the cast, the only thing topping it up is the closing song. All's well that will end well and you do have a feeling how things will turn out, it's just a matter of when. The only blemish would be the airplane sequence that runs a little long, other than that, you can have your cake and eat it too.

So don't "Hold On" but go watch this movie. Guys - you can watch too and have a great time. There were a number of guys in the screening, but maybe because we caught it after we watched the Canucks game when they knocked out the Sharks =) The jokes and antics and gags can be appreciated by all, and it just builds and surprises.

4.5/5
