Contagion

Humans are affected by a sudden epidemic that no one knows how to fight in this ensemble story loaded with a star studded cast including Kate Winslet, Gwyneth Paltrow, Matt Damon, Jude Law, Marion Cotillard and Laurence Fishburne, who have their stories of their roles either in spreading, fighting or just caught in the epidemic.


A lot of people liked this film, sadly in one of those rare times I find myself in disagreement. For a story of such a serious issue, especially the true potentials of this happening (the film finally reveals how the virus started), there were too many comedic moments that took away from the seriousness. Furthermore with the number of storylines, we weren't able to really focus on them all as they could all be fleshed further out. Stars' characters dying early in the film also didn't help, limiting their strengths as well as creating long gaps and leaving some arcs up to the imagination.
